1994
We purchase pioneering equipment for Hope Hospital including technology to
permit non-invasive treatment instead of surgery for brain aneurysms.
1995
Our National Helpline is the first of its kind for people
recovering from brain surgery in the UK.
1998
We fund the UK's first ever specialist subarachnoid
haemorrhage nurse appointed to assess the effectiveness
of patient follow-up visits immediately after discharge from
hospital.
1999
BASIC Neurocare Centre opens with the help of the Rt Hon Dr Mo Mowlem, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
2006
HRH the Princess Royal visits BASIC to officially open "BodyBASIC", our assisted
exercise suite.
2008
We are the first UK organisation to adopt the complete "Captains Log" brain gym after undergoing training from its creator in Virginia, USA.
2009
We are the first organisation selected by the Department of Health to share our
model of brain injury vocational rehabilitation with commissioners across England.
HRH the Princess Royal returns to BASIC to officially open
"Food for Thought", our community training cafe.
