Volunteers are vital to the work of BASIC. There are many ways in which you can
help us with your time and effort, just like Sara Dhrif....
Keen to help BASIC as much as it has helped her, Sara Dhrif volunteers her time as
front desk receptionist on Tuesday mornings and helps BASIC's chef cook up his
culinary wonders in Food For Thought on Mondays.
After living with her own life-long disability, hemiplegia, 26-year-old Sara understands
the frustration of disability and how to overcome it. After receiving support from BASIC's Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant, Philip Johnson, who helped Sara apply
for jobs and receive adequate benefits funding, Sara has volunteered her time
for BASIC since 2002, and helped on a regular basis since Spring.
Sara said: "Helping others is a joy. I have been helped by BASIC for the past eight
years and it is a pleasure to give my time to help BASIC reach out to other people
who benefit from their unique service."
