We all have bad runs

Despite the best-laid plans and training programmes, there are many times when training runs and races don't go as you expect. It is important that we learn from these as it may change our preparation for an event and help you achieve that PB. Sometimes the reasons for a bad performance are obvious like injury or illness but sometimes they can be slightly harder to find.

When analysing your runs it is important to look/do the following:

1. Keep a training log

2. Look critically at your pace

3. Look at the conditions you ran in

4. Have you had enough recovery

5. Returning after an injury

6. Are you under stress?

7. Are you getting enough sleep?
